Introduction

Gooseneck Shades, LLC came about as I was sitting in the bed of my truck video taping some of my friends runs at a roping at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, California. It was hot and there was a steady hot breeze was blowing. Next to me was a fellow ropers' wife reading a book with a beach umbrella to keep the sun off of her. The problem was that the umbrella kept getting blown over and her husband must have made 10 valiant attempts to keep his wife in the shade. It was then that the idea popped into my head to use the B & W Gooseneck Hitch mount as a mounting base for a patio umbrella.

I began development of the umbrella and got a Patent Pending on the device that is so simple to use I cant believe no one thought of it before. All you do is remove the B&W ball and insert the Gooseneck Shades Mount and insert any 1.5" diameter patio umbrella into the mount and tighten the set screws. It is as simple as that. I literally had my neighbor 3 year old son install the hitch on his own in a few minutes of coaching. It is that simple!

Any common patio umbrella will work including the tilting masted ones, which are the preferable ones to use as you can as you can adjust the tilt for a rising or setting sun.
